Well I picked up a 14' starcraft and took it to Dowensville, NY yesterday.
Got the steam clean and reg done and it's now on the lake ready to fish.
Can't wait to get back up to fish a few days in a week or twohttp://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj295/reelerin/thumbsupjpg.gif

Willie: Good luck on Pepacton Reservoir..Fished there 43 years, And after sampling everything Jersey had to offer, as far as Brown Trout fishing is concerned you'll find no better..However it has finicky seasons, where for one thing or another, fishing is tough, Don't get discouraged, because the way this year is shaping up it appears to be one of those seasons, lets say a downer..I'm sure you checked in at Al's sports store in Downsville and saw the proof of the last number of succesful seasons there. Its a place where you pay your dues, But believe me the rewards more than make up for it..Tite lines to you....Slider

my father and grandfather fished there back in the 50's 60's n 70's. My dad was telling me stories that he had to row that entire Reservoir. Do you still have to row or can you use an electric motor???

Pepacton Reservoir is part of NY Cities drinking water supplier..And no motors of any kind allowed on water shed property as of yet...Pepacton is about 25 miles long my hats off to ur dad and grandad if they rowed the entire reservoir bet they have some great fish tales to tell..No where as good as the old days, but still a great brown trout fishery, and smallmouth bass there are hardly ever fished..

my father told me of a story of my grandfather going up to Pepacton during a big drought during the 60's and assisting the game wardens carry monster browns from the river back up into the reservoir becasue the water levels were so low the fish could not get back up. I wish his boat was still up there. Would love to fish that body of water.

Still lots Brown Trout in Pepacton, Not like back in the 60's, Every thing changes, This year from all reports appears to be a slower season than the past 4 or 5 years..hard to say why, if I had to guess I'd say there was a die off of forage base mostly herring or saw bellies as the locale New yorkers call them, if you want to fish there its still open to fisherman just get your pass and pick up an old row boat and get started, Never know when that 10 pound plus lunker will stike, and they are still there..

Something is going on there @ the power lines. Big rigs have been set up on the water, evidently some kind of Oil leak or something going on. Fishing has been poor this season. If anyone knows or has an update let us know.
