Went fishing yesterday on the Millstone and did pretty good caught some nice pike, and a few bass and pickerel. Not bad for a few hours of bank fishing after work.

My apologies…last post is not correct. Not all the fish were caught on big lures. One of the biggest pike we caught was on a plain hook and a weight..Let me explain this one. My father got his lure stuck on a branch underwater so instead of risking him losing his lure I took my lure off put a hook and weight on and tried to snag the same branch in order to free his lure, in the process we must have been making the snagged lure flash and all the sudden a pike erupts from the water with my plain hook in its mouth and it happened to be the biggest pike we caught that day. It was crazy my dad and I were in complete amazement.

Thanks...I dont think we tried the spot your talking about but we did try a few different areas that produced fish. You just got to find them and most of the time when you do you catch a few in that area. Try bigger lures like a #5 spinner, bigger even works well.

Nice fish man, its good to see someone catching pike out of this river. I fish the stretch from millstone bait shop down to the end of the river in Manville from my boat regularly and the pike are scarce there. I just started exploring some new sections further upstream that look promising, hopefully I can find a few of these guys tomorrow when i go out!

Those pike look more healthy than the ones from the Passaic. Seems like most of those Passaic fish are thin.

Really? Have you looked at the one's that msgdn is catching? A 44inch monster didn't look thin to me.
