I didn't do my float trip today but instead joined Wilson on the Big D in the P-burg area. My first cast with a saltwater bomber got me a nice, really healthy looking walleye.
Wilson floated live shiners, we tried 2 spots. Wilson got some nice smallies on shiners then I started turning over rocks to get crayfish. I got one and he put it on his line and got a nice smallmouth.
Better than ideal conditions this morning, a few jet boats and a group of canoes went by.

I forgot my GoPro....duh.

Dead shad were EVERYWHERE !!!!!!!!!! A few times the odor was so bad, 10 dead shad for every 20 feet of shoreline

I saw a guy on the Raritan once who showed up with nothing but a fishing rod (no tackle bag, vest, nothing). He started turning over rocks and whenever he found a crayfish he would put it on his hook and cast. He got a smallmouth every single time! I guess he showed me how dumb it was for me to buy half the Bass Pro Shops catalog. :o
