Went down by the 2nd 287 crossing and fished the top of the big run from 6 to 8pm, parked at Riverside Park. I got 3 small stripers right away, one was a nice, about a foot long. Nothing for a while then I got a crappie of all things.
There were all kinds of fish nests (redds) in the shallows.
I was getting ready to leave when I saw a group of people in the water under Rt. 287 so I walked down to see what was going on. It was 3 men with a large cast net. I tried to chat it up with them but they didn't seem to understand my English, they spoke in a Russian tongue. I guess when it comes to rape, pillage and plunder these people got it down to a science.
I know Saxmatt wrote about them and I believe every word of it.
Still looking for something that looks like a sea run, someone got around a 5lbr. a few years ago in South Bound Brook, (photo)
