I guess you got your answer.
You know trim is better done with the drives. Tabs work by drag and less fuel efficiency. So unless you have a single or in boards. Tabs are a last resort.
Frankly never neard of smart tabs. I can imagine the concept. But can see they can get overworked. And not last a long time.

I tried them. I also removed them. I have a 16.5 aluminum with a 75 merc and they slowed me down. way to much drag.

There were alot of good reviews in two other boating forums, thought I would ask closer to home.
Thanks.

I had them on my last boat - 20' Grady
I went with them because they were alot less $ than hydraulics and claimed to work.
Their customer service was very helpful. The ones I bought were way to strong and would not compress enough under load. They sent me (exchange) a new lighter set for free.
They work ok, but nothing like hyraulic tabs. However I would not likely do it again.
Def go with bennets. made a WORLD of difference on my 21' single screw CC.

Tabs that can be adjusted individually are the way to go. You can adjust them to correct your boat listing on one side and you can also adjust to adjust for certain sea conditions. EG keep the nose down when heading into seas to keep from slamming or to stay on plane at lower RPMS.
In optimum running conditions you want the tabs and engine/drive trim adjusted so that at running speeds, the hull spray starts right at midships.
In the best case scenario you want the tabs as even to the running line of the boat because you don't want to create addional drag. You adjust your running attitude as best you can with the engine/drive trim and then tweak it with the tabs.

i looked at them and certainly passed...did my research and pulled the plug on Bennet M120 sport tabs with auto tab control. Dollar for dollar the best item I have bought for my boat in a long time.
