Pops stocking the BFB on Friday

He told me something that all you walleye enthuists should know

Swartswood Lake

They shock that Lake to take the eggs from the females, bring them to the Muskie hatchery for incubation and the females go back into Swartswood

They have weighed and released 4 different fish that have gone back into the lake that can beat the current state record

Just thought I would share

I dont know anything about walleyes in NJ but my dad has passed swartswood when they shock the lake and you have to see the monster walleye they pull out for the hatchery.

They usually stop to help the guys when they are shocking the lake..

He said their huge....

I wasn't aware that they shocked the fish there. I do know they set up trap nets at the mouth of Neldon's Brook around spawning time and in passed years, have done great (some good info on the states website). I was there a couple months ago when the nets were still set up and got the chance to talk to a couple of the F&W guys that were there emptying the nets as we were fishing that area. They said that this year was not as good as years passed due to the wacky weather, that some fish were yet to spawn, some ready, and some spent. They took 4 solid fish (no bruisers) while we were there and said they were removing the nets the following day.

That's awesome about the potential state record swimming around in there. I've gotta get back up there for another night trip...

I do believe they shocked those same 4 fish 3 or 4 seasons ago. WOW, boyz theres a couple of 15 lb WALLEYE in Swartswood. I was in a tournament there 3 years ago, the winning Walleye was 9lbs 14oz. I could be off by an oz. Lets get at em!!!

Usually jig Wslleyes in fall with my neighbor who fishes them year round.
The biggest we have landed in the past 5 seasons from Swartie was 8#s.
Numerous 5# fish Solon jigs , we fish until ice in!
Huge crappie some days , love that late fall jiggin'
