Went to S.R. yesterday in hopes of catching some hybrids in the tough wind. Gusts to 25-30mph. At some points, saw waves near 2-3ft. Overall, it was a good day. 8-9 hybrids to 6lbs, a 3lb smallie, a 2.5lb lmb, and my first northern pike. Not a bad day at all. If only the winds weren't so brutal.

Very nice day it sounds and looks like. I've yet to fish Spruce Run, but its on the top of my list to try. What did the Hybrids and Pike hit on? Live herring?

That lake has been on my " to do " list for way too long.
Looks like a good day despite the conditions.

The pike came on a crankbait. The hybrids came on small swimbaits. I've yet to use live bait in the last 3 years since I've started fishing again.

Fishing in the rain can be the most productive sometimes.

Very Nice. My best days for the hybrids have been in June on herring with slip bobbers 12 feet down in 40 to 60 feet of water when the surface temp was approaching 70. Looks like I should try some new methods
Excellent

These fish were certainly not at those depths. They were a lot shallower. I think they were following the bait being blown around in the wind.

Andy-need to put this one on the to DONE list a few times
While I have only fished SR in the fall, there are great possibilities lurking in the depths. LM, SM, hybrids, pike...fish on!. Have seen some enormous carp there as well and always take the bowfishing gear there just in case I have a good shot at the monsters that are there. The carp there jump out of the water more than any others in the lat summer/early fall.
Hoping we have a HOT summer...lower the lake levels and concentrate the fish.
Best days have been when the lake is way down....launch from the side...and fish the suspended weeds!
