Just got back from there on a questionable weather day and my friend and I walked away with 22 total catches and about 7-8 other misses in underline 4 hrs. The lake is crawling with pickrel. We caught 20 in total. Ranging in size from tiny to big(5 lbs id say). I also caught a nice around 2.5 lb big mouth while my friend caught a 3 lb smallmouth right under our feet from the dock. Great lake, highly recommended if anyone is in the area.

sounds like a good time. a 5# pickerel is ~28" long, that how big the ones you got today?

Hmmm maybe I overestimated lol....typical fish story. I would say the longest was 14-16 inches. Definitely some good sized fish in the lake though.

For reference TM:
This one went about 4-4.5lbs. About 26".

Oh wow....nice fish. I can usually give a good educated guess on bass weight, but apparently I'm way off on pickrel lol. I'd say we caught 2 that were about 1/2 that size. I just figured that since they were so long they'd weigh a decent amount...guess not. Lesson learned.

I think he just wanted that sangwich in your tackle box.

Thanks. I had to put a choke hold on that slime dart or else he would've escaped. Real strong fish.
My estimations are getting better on bass, but still quite off. Guess I still have to catch some more!

He could've had it. I don't remember it being too good. :D

I fished there 30 years ago when I was just a youngin - lived close by
Glad to see it is still producing
Wonder if any of my old "secret" spots are around, HAW!

Also, went back today and caught another crap load of pickrel with 2 friends. About 20 in total between the 3 of us. My friend caught a nice bass out of it as well today.

Ok thanks for the help. That sucker would not open his mouth and let me hold it with my thumb in its mouth like you would with a typical bass. I took it too literally apparently and thought because it had a small mouth that wouldn't open it was a smallmouth bass lol. Still a rookie as you can see.
