Hit the river today from 11-330. Casted jointed bombers and storm shads, nobody else on the river at the time. Hooked 2 fish today on the storm shad chartruese. 1st fish was hooked down from the falls where the big tree is in the water, either a big smallie or a hybrid, I was messing with my drag so i did not land this fish but it was big. It was not a striper, stripers do not jump. Caught a glimpse of the fishes tail, it was dark, then moved on. 2nd fish hooked right up against the falls, storm shad again, I didn't realize the fish was hooked until it started running toward the falls like a freight train, STRIPER! Anyway fish gone could've been a good one. After this post is up ill be busy putting treble trailer hooks on my storm shads, those short strikers won't stand a chance now. LOOK OUT FISH!!! 3rd fish hooked on a white and black bomber, good fish, this ones not getting away not with all the treble hooks he has stuck in his face. BOOOM, KEEPER WALLEYE, 24-26 INCHES, 5 OR SO POUNDS!!!! Heres a pic of the one that didn't get away. TIGHT LINES!!! FASTEDDIE, Proud member of the 5lb RARITAN RIVER WALLEYE RELEASE CLUB!!!:D

Man that water is a running, as you can see in the back round.
That's a bigger Eye then I have ever caught...but then again I've only caught about 5 of 'em.
Still waiting for the ring ring on the cell:rolleyes:
Nice job.;)
Great looking fish. I thought what Wilson said when I saw the pics, that water is raging.

Great fish man! Does the state stock them in the Raritan or are they wanderers from somewhere else?

I wrote to F&G and asked them to stock walleye in the Raritan. They said NO, it will effect the shad run, well.............. I got walleye in Raritan, saw walleye in Manville, got them in South Bound Brook and heard first hand reports of walleye in the Raritan in Bound Brook.
Soooooooooooooooo  Stock smallmouth then, stock something, anything, heck 15,000 brown trout are wasted every year on the Muddysquan, why not dump them in the Raritan ???
I will continue to write letters, they can't ignore me forever.

No they are not stocked, and I have no clue where they might come from. Im pretty sure they stocked the canal with them at 1 point in time. I was throwing big jointed bombers for Stripers when this Eye got hooked. Eyes like jointed bombers, use them all the time on LH, Swartswood, Big D and Skunksville!!!

A lot of them are caught in the canal near the lock closest to New Brunswick,
