Hit waywayanda today from 7:10 -3:00. First time there in a VERY long time and was my third time on my kayak. Ended up being gorgeous out. Had five pickerel, 8 fighting sunfish (pumpkinseed and the regular variety), and a very healthy perch (approx 11").

I missed on pickerel right next to the yak, about 7 feet off. Saw him hit and set the hook, but the thing shook off under water after three cranks or so. Was a beast of a fish. Arg.

Had a great day though... Many many weeds, and be careful of rocks. My yak is inflatable so I'm ultra careful of rocks and the trebles on my lures. Lip grips for the picks worked really well, especially on the agressive one that gill hooked (inside gill) up to the second treble hook. Went in from behind the gill plate and successfully retrieved the lure (6" fire tiger rapala slash bait) and saved the little dudes life. I was very happy about that.

Sounds like good stuff all around the state! Keep up the awesome fishing, people!

Were there alot of boats on the lake, do you know the water temp, do they stock trout in there, was the water very clear.

Sorry for the questions, the lake is on my "to-do" list, just trying to get a feel, thanx, and thanx for the report.

Lots of boats, yes. Probably between 10 and 17 at any point. Here is what you are looking for:

1) Many boats, but it's a big lake so nothing intrusive.

2) Water started out @ 47* and closed the day around 55* (Overheard people talking about this while looking @ their sonar. Once I have mine I'll report better details)

3) Yes, they stock trout here. Not sure how many remain though. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE was catching picks.

4) Water was amazingly clear. In fact, that was one of my favorite parts of the day!

the water is clear everywhere because there haven't been rains stirring things up

Andy, you may want to check with F&W as well... I know nothing about them, but W is one of the two lakes that also received some stocking of landlocks

Sounds like you had a great day! on WayWay.

I'm planning on going Monday with my yak. Trying to target trout or salmon. Going to set out two lines. one top line with dodger worm set up. the second I'm going to trop to about 20-40 ft. with same sort of set up or a rap. I rigged a homemade downrigger with a baitreel mounted to a stick with 4lb trolling ball and release.

If that doesn't work I don't know what else to try?

probably go for warm water species.

By the way has anyone hit up high point this season? planning to drive up and hit some lakes for trout.
