Hey guys,

Tried to go fishing for carp for the first time with no luck. Went to the D&R Canal over by the rt287 bridge and used corn as chum and put 3 on a hook. No luck but I will be trying for carp again for the next time I go out... Any suggestions? Was I too far north?

Black Drum are seriously the sea carp! Dogfish do not be afraid to fish this same spot again the more you chum an area routinely the better it will get

I am wondering if they are all the way up the canal where I was fishing... But yea, I guess I will have to chum and try again!!! Is there something I should be looking for when I am picking a spot on the canal? I fished about 50m away from a lock on the upstream side...

You can go alot further up river, try the Raritan river next time for big carp.
