Lake Gaston, NC

Got the chance to spend the weekend in North Carolina. Stayed at a great lodge on Lake Gaston. Our primary target were largemouth bass but unfortunately we couldn't pinpoint them and establish a pattern:mad: , Thankfully gaston has a fantastic catfish and striper fishery. Ended up catching my first blue catfish- caught two small ones until I hooked into a gorgeous 12 pounder:D , my biggest catfish to date and really made up for the tough bass fishing. Had another tough day the following day but that all faded when I got first striper of the year on a spinnerbait:eek: . Nothing like catching a NJ keeper sized striper on freshwater gear. Overall had a fantastic weekend filled w/ great food, good fishing, good friends, and a great place!

It is a nice lake.. Big too! We also caught cats, panfish, and a few alligator gar... Nice fish....

Thanks guys! Definitely had a great time despite the fishing tournament and the tornado watch we had on Saturday. Might be planning another trip in october when the weather will be more stable. 86° bright and sunny followed by a 30 ° drop and tornado watch on Saturday does make for some tough fishing.
