The old fashioned gold CP Swing has a good memory as well...right Lard?
Also the all gold blade, black body with yellow dots. in 1/4 oz. works good on the big D.
If it's gold it will work...but so do worms :D

I'm a Roostertail man myself. Not really my favorite but I have some glow-in-the-dark ones that I've caught some Rainbows and smallies with before the sun came out which was really cool.

My favorite is the rosster tail, but the best all around bait is a nightcrawler.

Grew up in upstate NY using the Rooster Tails but liked the Mepps as well. Started making my own spinners from kits and made a trademark lure that worked awesome in the NY streams for trout. Gold blade with brass/black striped body, red bead and silver bead right below the eye with a treble hook.
Made a killing in my bait shop.....

I'm with Wilson on this one. Fishing up in 1000 islands one year for smallies and between 10 guys no one was catching anything and for 2 days we threw everything we had in our tackle boxes at these fish.

I went to the bait store out of frustration and the guys said try these. Exact same lure Wilson pictured in his post. The next morning I was slaying the fish and no one else caught Jack. I probably could have got $100 for the spare one I bought.

Needless to say that afternoon everyone rushed to the bait store and bought every last one of them and they were now hooking up too. This spinner saved our fishing trip.

Never much cared for Roostertails or Blue Fox. I use both PMs and Mepps and have caught fish on both, but I give the edge to Mepps. PMs are good in really small streams or when casting up-current because the blade directly on the shaft turns more easily than a blade attached by a clevis. However, I like Mepps in almost all other situations because it throws off a lot more vibration, which goes a long way in attracting more fish, especially in stained water. I also have an easier time controlling the running depth of a Mepps as opposed to a PM.

Thomas, single blade gold and silver!!!
Forgot that one and your right. Our guide on the West Branch of the D turned me on to those, and they worked quite well.
They are not so easy to find in the larger sizes in the sport shops around here:confused: I have a few smaller ones.

Not usualy a spinner fisherman. Last year was my first year fishing in at least 15 years. I didnt even know what a PM was (how long have they been around?). I did throw a rooster tail a couple of times and had good luck so I guess that will have to be my favorite. Not a spinner but I have to say, after the trout I caught the other night on the Musky the Rapala rainbow trout floater in 05 would be my favorite lure for sure.

lol when i finally figure how to show pics you would have a better idea,I have two, yes , 2 full spinner boxes-lightweight stream/heavierweight casters and have had some colors and/or sizes do better day by day- but I am in favor of the white roostertail especially the really small one with the inline prop blade for smaller areas and it works very well in streams allowing you to almost jig in areas by letting it drop back then pull up. Guess when they usually nail it...

For trout black rooster tail with silver blade! Roosters tails are light so you are able to fish them with a slower presenatainon. Especially in slower moving streams you can hold the spinner in the current an the water does all the work!!

Once the water gets warm i like a yellow rooster tail with silver blade for all those hold over brown and rainbow trout that evaded the spring rush. Poor brook trout eat anything that moves:eek: so i'm usually suprised when i catch 1 of them later in the summer after they haven't stocked!!
