Grabbed some shiners and hit the river again for an hour after work for about an hour. One of my go-to spots was extremely low, so I hit another good spot and was greated by 3 nice Smallies. All fish today hit shiners on a slip bobber. Again, I was hoping for a Pike, but I'm sure they'll show up eventually.

Haha thanks Eddie. I made a vow to not be a little girl and actually catch some cold weather fish in 2012 and I'm off to a decent start so far. Not that 55 degrees in February is cold...but its still February lol. Like I said, it will only get better from here : )

I tried upstream in your area once last year from the 'yak but will definetly be putting in some more time down there this year and see what happens...

Nice fish!
I was out on the Passaic yesterday as well, upper portion, in my kayak. I wasn't wearing my watch and I got into a groove paddling upstream, so before I realized it, I had gone about 4.5 miles. Didn't really get to fish more than a few casts before I had to head back so I could get back to where I launched before dark.
I lived in Elmwood Park for 3 years, it's too bad that I didn't think to try fishing there at the time. Yeah, the Passaic's dirty, but it's big and full of interesting things, so i am definitely looking forward to spending some more time on the river soon.

I've fished many times in the two bridges area north and south and have had lots of luck in the summer from my Kayak. Me and my buddies wanna try Great Piece Meadows area down to two bridges rd. Have any of you guys fished that area?

I have been down that area twice but unfortunately my buddy that I fish with (who happens to own the canoe that we use) thinks that getting on to the water at 9am is early... smh:confused: so the 2 times that we have fished way back in these areas we have not done that good (only a few decent largemeouth and smallie). However I do see alot of potential in these back areas along with a few deep pockets. The river is very narrow and you can cover a lot of ground very fast. I plan on getting my own John boat this spring and hitting the water early (5am ish) to really see whats going on back there...

I've gone into there a bunch of times, either launching from the end near Two bridges or the beginning by Horseneck Road. Though its a cool float, gorgeous and secluded in there, I haven't had much luck fish wise. An occasional largemouth, crappie and a few small pike is all I have to show for all the hours I've spent in there!

Its funny that you mention that you havnt had much luck either cuz Ive always had very good luck no matter what time of day under the 2 bridges up to the water pump station and down. Ive attempted to fish from shore from the beginning part of the great meadows areas from where 2 bridges starts and I have only 1 pike to show for it which I caught a few days ago... I have no idea why cuz this beginning area has everything you could want in terms of cover, depth, etc...

Aqueduct park has produced very well for me in terms of largemouth and small mouth as well as PIKE.....

The whole Great Piece Meadows is amazing habitat for these fish. TONS of submerged structure, big laydowns all over, sporatic weedbeds, even rocks in some places. I just havent figured out why it doesn't produce like it should.

Where is Aqueduct Park?
