Hey guys,

I have tomorrow & friday off an was curious if you could supply me with an area that would be open enough for me to get in the water and practice some fly casting with the hopes of hooking into a fish? Any area will do... I'm looking south of hackettstown with easy parking. I have never fished the area so I'm not looking for any secret spots, just a bit of an 'open' area that i can get some good cast practice in.

Thanks!

Right at the entrance to the hatchery. pull into the hatchery, make you first right. Plenty of parking

go west on 57, the river paralells the road with access all along the river. Good Luck!

You might want to try the Ken lockwood gorge off 513 in califon, not too far and will have more fish Shannons fly shop is right there to check on what is working.

If you're interested in the Musconetcong, try Point Mountain. It's an artificial only section with special regulations.

Water temps were ~37 degrees last weekend, so the trout are really sluggish. Don't count on a banner day.
