Nice fish man! +1 for it being from a yak too! I landed my first Hybrid from my yak over the summer, what a blast that was lol.
What did you catch the fish on? Depth? Ever have any luck with Pike there?

I have seen more folks drifting live bait fishing for hybrids in Spruce Run more than fishing for other species in the 15-20 times I have been there. Only seen two folks hooked up there while endlessly trolling and they were what I would call dinks.
In the south where I grew up (TN) the hybrids would push the bait to the surface and everything you could throw at them worked for as long as they were up (10 min to 1 h); however, I have not seen this happen here. I know I may be missing the all important moment there, but does this happen at Spruce Run? Heard the night time summer bite is good, but have not tried.
Comments?
Personally not a bait fisherman, except for catfish of course.

From what I have read, night time is the right time. Lake Hopatcong, the reports in the spring of big hybrids pushing bait, go back and look through the freshwater pages and you will see.
Heard good things about Spruce Run, magic hours in the summer.

On one of my 3 times night fishing Hopatcong for Hybrids over the summer, I witnessed this from my kayak. Basically heard very frequent surface breaks and splashes for maybe 3-4 minutes, then it stopped. It was dark and I was in the kayak, so by the time I thought I was in the vacinity, it was over. Pretty cool though...

Seen the Hybrids break water one of the approx. 10 times I was out on Spruce Run last summer. Was out in about fifty ft of water out in the middle of the main section seen 3 0r 4 fish break the surface, we stopped in the area about where we seen them and drifted herring at 10 ft. We picked up three fish in about ten minutes then it was over. Seems they turn on about sunset in the warm weather and turn off before dark, had this happen twice last year both times there was a little chop on the water. I'll be going back next summer to try and get a better handle on catching them. It is some very pleasant fishing, warm weather, sunset, beautiful lake and some tough fighting fish.

Never really fished for hybrids this time of year at spruce run. But the summer months they are great. Best time is dusk, there is bait jumping out of the water everywhere!
