My marina shut off water last week.We are new to togging and we are hooked.Hoping to keep boat in slip for a few more weeks. My question is how long can you go without flushing engine? I have always flushed with salt terminator after every trip.

My boat sits in the water all year long and never gets flushed. It's an inboard with fresh water cooling.... A few weeks are not going to hurt anything. Just flush before wintertizing.

Funny thing with outboards- like all engines I guess... air accelerates.

Do you keep them tilted down so they do not freeze? No real effect.

As was pointed out, even if you tilt up a few trips won't make any real difference.

Air makes the salt dry out. And the chemical activities begin.

When we do salvages on sunken boats, the hustle begins when the motor hits air again. You've got hours to get it moving again. Leave it overnight and youre SCREWED that motor will never turn again absent a VERy large plumbers wrench.

So leave it titled down and the effects are almost nill.
