With the boating season coming to a close soon, I'd like to hit a few new spots before the ice. I am thinking I'd like to try one of the Newark Watershed lakes (Canistear Res., Clinton Res., Echo Lake, Oak Ridge Res.). I havent seen too much information on these bodies of water since they are permit only I guess (which is a good thing). I have heard of good muskie, walleye and smallie fishing up there though, which has me intrigued...

I will probably be doing the day-permit thing, then re-upping for a season pass for 2012. Any tips, advice, info, suggestions from anyone who has fished these places?

I am not sure that they issue any more fishing permits after they start issuing hunting permits. I think Echo lake is the only one open in November.

He's right Skunk. I called a few weeks ago and they said it was the last day that the other lakes would be open. Just Echo now.

Personally, I'd just say hold off for now and just get it for 2012. There's no point in getting it now for the short time frame. That's what my friend and I will be doing.

Thanks for the info guys. Knowing that, I'll probably see if I can do the single day thing at Echo Lake and troll for some Muskie...then do the season pass next year.

Skunk, just call for the hours. Don't think the office is open on Saturdays anymore.

Hit Echo, I find pretty solid variety there.
