Took my brother from 6:30 to 10:30, started to the right of the concrete ramp next to the rocks. Thought it was gonna be a good day when a bow jumped about 50 feet infront of us...stayed in that spot bottom fishing powerbait for 2 hours without a single hit using 5 rods between us  ...saw lots of bows jumping between the 2 ramps, one every 10 minutes or so. SAW ONLY 2 FISH CAUGHT from 6:30 - 8:30 and nothing afterward  , one from the rocks (short), and one next to gravel ramp (maybe 16") Figured things might be better at ranger cove, tried that for an hour, without a single bite or any signs of fish. Talked with 2 guys fishing there who said fishing yesterday was the same. ...Went back to boat launch for an hour, fished between the ramps, trout jumping infront of us 3 feet in the air and crusing 15 feet from shore, guy next to us had one run-off on a shiner. Saw one bigger male bow around 20-22, a brown around 18-20 and lots of shorts mainly rainbows but a few browns mixed in...Not nearly the quality of fish 15 years ago:( . On the bright side, the weather was beautiful.

Not for the lack of trying on your part. I think Round Valley is best fished by boat.

Took the kids and dog for a hike along the lake today 10-24-2011

did not see anyone catching from the shore or in a boat; HOWEVER, near the entrance to most of the hiking trails, I saw three "tailing" trout on the surface. Where was my rod...at home. Oh well and during the hike with the kids my mind was occupied with how to fish this deep pond.

I have not fished this lake either from shore or in my boat, but gotta give it a try next year. At the drop off around the bank I saw submerged weed beds...gotta hold fish.

I hit RV on Saturday with shiners. I fished Ranger's Cove for about two hours. I hit a small largemouth and at first what I thought was a decent size smallmouth until I landed it...it was a large rockbass that gave me one heck of a fight on my bass rod. I saw a lot of bait in the water, both fish hit within 10 minutes of each other when that bait was in front of me.

Those rock bass will hit like a bass then give up. Weird fish. The big ones are pretty good eating though.
