Only took about 20 minutes to hook this beast at lunchtime today. What a frickin fight. I had to climb up a rail onto a dock holding the rod in one hand then just let this thing have it's way with me until it got tired. This thing probably swam over 100 yards back and forth during the 10 minutes I had it on. What a rush. I love catching these things. Same 'ol method that Jmurr taught me back when I was budding carp fisherman....chum with cream corn, bait with sweet corn, wait.

Thanks guys. And no problem Jmurr. I would still be cooking up new formulas in my kitchen if it wasn't for you persisting with the corn. I was using boilees, bread and homemade stuff in the early spring but I think the water was just a bit too chilly still. I've caught some nice carp since May and every one has been on corn. And thanks NJ, always makes me glad to hear people are reading it. I wouldn't recommend the dress shoes though. I almost always wind up taking a little swim getting these things on shore. You can't see it in the pic, but both of my legs went ankle deep when I slipped in the mud. I had to go home and change. My pants were covered in mud too and I got blood on my shirt. Carp fishing should be done AFTER work, not during lunch.
