I caught this at one of the town park ponds here in Denville the other day. Lure was a #4 Panther Martin gold spinner dressed with red/orange hair. 10# stealth braid line with 6# fluorocarbon leader... no idea how he didn't slice it off. 25.5" with an 11" girth, beats my old personal best chain by 3.5" of length. Caught, released. Qualification for chains for C&R angler awards is 24" so I sent it in... how much bigger have people caught them around here?

yeah, i lost my scale somewhere in the past couple weeks so i didn't get a weight on it. my guesstimate was 4 ~ 5#.

I caught this early on my first trip to this pond, so I was just poking around to see what was in there. Afterwards, I lost two panther martins, both bit cleanly off... found out the hard way that chains have taken the top predator spot. Since then trip, I have gone back a few times (with wire leaders on) and targeted the slime darts. Lots of fun on spinners or tossing medium shiners under a slip bobber.

Nice catch out of the salad.

Nice catch!

Here was my biggest, roughly 26-27" as well, but only about 4ish lbs.
