I haven't posted in awhile, I've done a lot of fishing the past couple of weeks but the family away on vacation for 3 weeks had my camera so I was missing something. :p

I've been fishing RVR and strictly the swimming lake, the state has drained some water out of the big lake and the surface temperature has been really warm so not much action in the shallows to be had. I haven't caught a large number of fish but a lot of good quality fish in the 2LBS to almost 4 LBS range. Usually one fish per trip but I've mixed in some dinks and pickerel on a couple of trips. I've been using finesse worms and caught most of the fish on those either Texas-rigged or wacky-style.

Headed out at 5:30 this morning and was on the lake a little bit after 6. Had a tug on the first cast and then brought a small pickerel to shore on the second cast and he was able to unhook himself (only fish I'm glad to see do so). A couple of casts later I got my first NJ laregemouth that was north of the 4 LBS mark. Put up a great fight on my baitcaster and pulled some drag off on a couple of runs too. I got one decent pic before putting him back as I had some auto-timer issues (rusty).

I hooked into another solid fish when I switched over to a tube when the wind picked up, might have been in the same class as this one but it sheared my leader on the rocks and left me with nothing. One dink before I left and a pretty good 3 1/2 hours this mornin and a state PB. Might head back this afternoon with my son to see if we can hook him into something big.

So one 1 2-4 lb. bass a trip and some dinks/pickeral mixed. Not bad at all, especially from the shoreline. Nice job, my PB is only 5 lb. 12 oz. and I fish A LOT and from a boat. Biggest from the shore is only 3 lbs. or so for me.

Thanks. It's been an amazing streak, the swimming lake has been on fire since last month even when we had that brutal heat-wave and I was able to get other there in the early evening.

Shame I didn't have the camera as it would have looked like I had the same fish in every picture and I only changed my shirt in each one!

Lucky you, I fished the main resevoir at night a few days ago with my buddy and we caught nothing but dinks. 2 smallies, and the rest LMB. All under 1.5lbs.

We know they get huge their but have yet to find them.

Took my son out to the Valley for an hour tonight after getting there around 5:30. He was more happy collecting rocks than actually fishing.

I kept my streak alive with another fattie in the 3 LBS neighborhood. I had a solid bite before we left that I wanted to keep casting at to try and hook him but when your 5 year old says he has to poo, then it's game over.

Thanks. It's great he enjoys being out there and he was happy to take photographer duties for me as well.
