Hit the North Branch of the Susquehanna with my son last night in Danville. Got delayed by a moderate shower and got on the water about 6:00pm. Splashed the boat and headed north to low and very murky water. (Anybody know a good prop repair place?) Fished till around 9:00pm and came up empty. Threw everything in the box and not a touch. Even tried to hit my old hotspot for a Bluegill or a Perch to get the skunk off the boat and even they wouldn't cooperate.
Had a couple of decent smallies follow a topwater to the boat but wouldn't commit. Got to see some wildlife along the shores. Deer, Egrets, Herons, and a Bald Eagle made a run up the river about five feet off the water 25 yards from the boat.
A great evening on the water with my son. Happy Birthday Dalton!!! 14 y/o already. Going to try the AM bite on Saturday.

Hear any other reports from that area, has it been slow all around for everybody, or was it just an off day ??

The water is around 84 and is murky from all the fracking. The fishery is not what it used to be and looks like it will be getting worse. The catch is 1/2 of what it was at this time last year.

Talked to two other boats at the ramp when we pulled out. They both had a pick of 12" to 14'' smallies before the rain started and said the catching has slowed dramatically for the past two weeks since the heat began. West Branch reports have been good in the Winfield/Lewisburg area from what I have been hearing but it has been a morning bite only. Have not gotten any reports lately from Sunbury/Shamkokin Dam and points south. I'll let you know if I hear anything good.

I was fishing Penns Creek during the heat wave in the Selingsrove area. It was the most "no catching" trip to date. Lots of local sport fishermen grumbling over the meat fishermen cleaning out the Susky tributaries since the no kill rule went into effect this year on the Susky. My buddy lives on the Penns Creek, he was telling me one boat took limits of 3,4,5 lb. of SMB on different nights. I know it's legal to do...but that don't make it right.
The heat was bad but I was out early, day, and night. Had maybe 6 fish all dinks all weekend. No Carp even.
Meat and Heat don't mix well!!
