It killed me seeing you guys catching cats Saturday night, so I went back on Sunday with some live bluegills and chicken livers. Andy met me there and hung out while I soaked some livers and live bluegills from 8am to 10ish or so. Tried the river first. It was still moving, but I was able to hold with 2 and 3-oz. no-roll sinkers. Even though I kept on the bottom, I think the current was pulling the livers off and definitely effecting the natural presentation of the live bluegill. With an hour before I needed to head home, I went back to canal. Even a seasoned angler like Andy was surprised when I showed him how a 2 or 3-pound channel can swallow an entire, full-grown bluegill. The livers didn't get scratched. It wasn't a bruiser, but at least I got out, got to chill with Andy and got myself a kitty. I'll put a pic up of the cat later along with one that Chris_JC scored on Saturday. Peez!!!

I never knew a catfish could eat a large bluegill that fast, you didn't even let it run, just set the hook !!

They don't pu$$y-foot around when it comes to eating a bluegill. They just inhale it. Good to see you again buddy. I'll be back soon, with more GILLSSS!!!

If I try the bigger gills, I'm gonna be looking for a spot on the Big D to catch some of them shovelhead that are hanging around there these days. Chris_JC and I tried to do that last year, but we found a drunk kid in a tube passed out on the side of the road and did the noble thing and got him to safety. That ordeal took like 4 hours and we never got much fishing in, but it made for a great story. I'd like to try that again, around Bull's Island or further south, even below Lambertville. We should hook that up one night, I gotta hit Google Maps though and find better shore access.

Stumbled upon this thread but you gotta see this video. Look at the size of the fish this Blue Catfish eats, and look how fast he sucks it in.
