We hit Lake Assunpink this morning. With the amount of rain we had last night, I hoped we would do well. We started out at 5:15 am. We threw topwaters, rapalas, Mr. Twisters and superflukes. The only thing that didn't work was the superflukes since the wind kicked up once we started to work them. However, the fishing was overall slow. We got off the lake 11:45 am. We had 20 bass, white and yellow perch, crappie and sunfish. Big fish was a
2 lb. bass. The first hour was good with bass on topwater then everything else was tough. Had a white perch on a topwater also, a first for me.Also, it was nice meeting Lunkertaker for the first time. He had a similar day to ours. It was an OK day considering the bluebird skies and muddy water.

The Bass'ing has definetly seemed to slow a bit. It seemed to peak the first 2 weeks of June.

My day started like AJ and his dad...top water action..got two early one at 10 inch and the other around 2 lbs. Sun up...different pattern and off to the back of the lake. Got a few small bass and a pickerel on a rooster tail then switched to the superfluke and BAM, BAM, BAM, and BAM agian. Landed 4-5 1-1.5 lb LMB in the weeds. Was trying to untangle a potential problem and then BAM on the first titch and a 3 lb LMB. After 9-9:30 bite was over and switched to jigging a few crappie. off the lake by 11 am. Not stellar, not bad and a good day on the water.

Yeah, we switched to the superflukes after I saw you catch one. Actually, he had on a weedless frog which worked well for him before but we had no hits. Some cloud cover and the topwater bite would have lasted much longer. I had my bass on a heddon torpedoe and sevral missed blowups. After the first 1 1/2 hours though, the topwater bite died. Had my last topwater fish heading towards the back around 9. The topwater bite worked out, finding a good concentration of crappies didn't. They seem to suspend out in deep water this time of year a lot. That's why the island has them a lot of times.
Saw you catch a few in the cove, sometimes we have caught them there on accident throwing topwater but no luck with them jigging today.
