Hit the lake off Skyline a little before six with my 15 year old sister in-law. Hiked up from the bottom parking lot at 5:45am, got to the lake and taught her how to cast the Spirex 2500. Quickfire made it real easy and she got the hang of it after slamming a few down right in front of her. Seriously... like a pro! Was awesome to pass on he Quickfire skills.

I used a senko worm (dark green w/black flake) and wasn't having any takers. Awesome bait ball action but too far to cast to. The ugly loon-like bird was having a smorgasbord with the bait. UGH, super annoying. Anyway, we weren't having any fish so I tied on a 'Trout Magnet' figuring she could at least catch a sunny. We were about to leave first spot and I hooked into a sunfish which felt like a bass because the Light action rod was flexing like crazy. Was real fun for a sunfish!

So, we moved to the next spot, and she had on the trout magnet. She cast over a bush and I was thinking in my head, "Oh great, now I'm going to have to untangle that..." Well, I didn't have to untangle it! She hooked into her first fish ever! A nice healthy bass! Approximately 14 inches... but the best part was watching her reel it in saying, "Now what now what?!" LoL! Hysterical and a blast. Her only fish of the day, but it was so fun.

Later on I got a small chain pickerel and we headed out when it really started to warm up. Only made it about 3/8 the way around the lake to Flat Rock peninsula. Got back to the condo at 9:47, happy and tired from lots of casting and laughing. Great morning!
