Lard Almighty

Headed over to Spring Lake hoping the bass would be out and about with the cloud cover. I missed a decent crappie on a crankbait, and two bass on a slug-go, one of which jumped spectacularly and spat it back in my face. I swear, sometimes I think those bass have it in for me. Several other people fishing, did not see a single hook-up. Saw a big palomino dead on the bank, I guess all the trout in shallow ponds are starting to die off from the hot weather.
Moved over to upper Deal Lake in Interlaken, and dropped three more bass on the slug-go. I switched to a Pop-R, and finally managed to get one on my thumb, a chunky one pounder. Moved down to the lower lake, but nothing going on down there.
Six hours and only one bass to show for my troubles. Could have been worse, but could have been a lot better, too. That's fishing, I guess.
