View Full Version : Lower Passaic River- Short Hills area

i live in morris county and i was driving down rt 124 in chatham and i happened to see a guy in waders fishing this particular stretch of the river... anyone ever mess around in this area- the tree in the nearby park has a stocking poster on a tree right next to a cement ramp leading directly into this stretch of the river... any info??

Above those little falls = trout
Below those little falls= pike

That's an incredible area. Do some exploring and you might like what you find.

I fish the Passaic in Chatham, Summit and Berkeley heights often. Mostly because I work in Chatham and its so close. I often get skunked but have pulled quite a few trout, pickeral and even crappie out of there. There are terrific access points and its wonderful to have such a serene place to go to in the midst of suburbia. Wading is easy on this part of the river but shore access is also plentiful.
also, don't overlook the often ignored ponds in this area.
