Part of my network of boats I fish with caught this over the weekend.
All I can say was it looked like the fish was bigger than the guy who caught it. Frankie Noto (the man who got it) / close friend Vinny Vetere (on the left)
PM me if you want any details.
This is truely a cow bass... Unreal.. fish of a lifetime.. I was next to him in another boat when he caught it..

Michael,
A 50 lb fish is a fish of a lifetime so I am not sure what you would call a 60 pounder. I see fish was weighed at Micheals in SI. That is a tremendous catch. I do quite a bit of fishing on the LEGACY out of Mansion Marina in Staten Island. They have had an unbelievable year with big fish this year but that 60 tops the cake. Do you know those guys from the LEGACY? The are some great people.
Did they catch it trolling spoons or on bait.
Great photo

Nice fish!, we have to come up with a way to weight fish like that in the fishing area. Sucks to see a fish like that not to go back. Thats only my opinion , if you catch it you have the right to do what ever you want with your fish. Hopefully a lot of people got a piece
A very VERY impressive fish. Congrats!!!

I've known Frankie Noto for a long time as well....
A great Fisherman, not one to brag at all.
We all love to fish.....
I've seen and heard of more 50 lb plus fish this year then ever before.
The other morning I was surrounded by acres of huge Drum just finning on the surface.....
I just love it...

What I do is weigh the fish in the net. I have a detachable handle so all I do is net the fish take the handle off and weigh the net and fish together. The net weighs less than a pound. I know some guys weigh the fish by the lip/jaw but this will cause internal injuries. The fish is then gently removed from the net and held horizontally for a quick picture, revived at boatside and released. I like to see those big girls go back but you never know if that fish was gut hooked and bleeding, I would have put it the box too. Absolute fish of a lifetime, congrats!
