At least now I know why it's named BROWN's Point :p

I know the Suzuki dealership that used to be there in Keyport moved to the Morgan area just over the rt 35 highway bridge.

Yesterday they had the crane in removing more dirt. They are rebuilding it, adding a ramp, etc.

5pm yesterday they were working away.

All of the bulkhead has been replaced and re-configured/enlarged
They dredged a good part of the marina
They started pulling old pilings and are going to replace and re-configure the slips.
New water and electric with lighted pedastals
New main docks and some of the fingers will be replaced (they replaced a bunch of the fingers already over the past couple of years)
Enlarged parking area
Removed one of the out buildings up by the shop
New siding on the shop
New windows in the shop
I believe they are going to be paving the entire place (not sure but that is what I have heard)
Two new pads for the forklifts to put boats in the pit.

I'm sure there is more but that is all I can think of.

The weather over the winter was not very condusive for doing a major renovation and the floods didn't help much either. Considering what they have had to deal with they have been doing pretty well.

I think the place looks great!!! It's a lot closer to being done then it looks. People will be suprised how fast it will clean up if the weather gives them a break. Richard Kremer & Son has been doing a fine job and it's really just putting the icing on the cake at this point. I wouldn't be suprised to see some docks hitting the water by the middle of next week.

All of the docks were built on site over the winter, in house, and are just waiting to go in. Great job guys!

Clay and Sam have done an amazing amount of work over there and dumped a ton of money into this marina. I know that I am very excited about the improvements, and if it takes me a little longer this year to get my boat in over there.... Well so be it. It is going to be a much nicer marina and it's the least we (slip holders) can do, to help them give us a better place to boat and fish.

Good reply. Glad they're fixing the place up and especially pulling the old pilings. Nothing worse than riding thru the bay and not seeing one of those "widow makers" that rotted out and started floating.

ADDING A RAMP?

They already had one. They park a truck accross it so no one can use it.

I asked them a few years back about using it in for my 14'. The guy was really nasty simply saying no.

You cant consider what they have/had, a ramp. Yes it sloped to the water and was covered in asphalt, but as far as using it as a ramp?

It would be nice top a have decent usable ramp back there north of the bridge, just dont know if Browns has the parking space for trucks and trailers.

parking is an issue at Browns Point. For that reason I don't think they really want to be known as a public ramp if they allow it at all.

The started putting boats in the water for the guys that are going to stay at another marina until the docks are in. They started setting the docks in the water too. The place looks better everyday.

Back there there is slim pickings. Zubach has one where the current screams through just west of the 35 Bridge. I've used that often. It's a chinee fire drill alone with a current. At low tide it's a trailer axle bender.

Not sure even if Browns had a nice ramp, they'd open it to the public anyway.

Passed by last night. Finger docks installed and several boats in water, for those closest to Blue Rock. Still a ways to go yet. . . . .
