Rockafellows dam to the confluence with the North branch. 8am to 2pm Wash, rinse, repeat. (this time in Luke's canoe)
Same conditions as the last few weeks, gin clear water and bluebird skies. Floated the idea of an afternoon trip past Luke and he thought we should be able to do well either way so we went with the 8am launch time. I thought for nothing else an afternoon trip would give us a different sun angle in the gin clear water. I watch Lard's videos and he NEVER starts early. Would just a few degrees in water temp make a difference, I mean it is still August, isn't it. I didn't land my first SMB until 3 hrs into the float. Fishing did seemed to pick up as the day went on and the air got warmer. Lots of "dinks" a smattering of respectable fish. Pulled tires as went went. Bug hatch was insane all morning.
Only saw 2 anglers, so much for spot burning. The river definitely got "busier" with kayakers in the afternoon.. Saw one bald eagle and one osprey.
