Went fishing 🎣 in 84.5 degrees Dam Site 21 this evening on a hot 🥵, sunny day with a strong south wind. No cars 🚗 were in the parking lot when I arrived but 6 fishermen arrived before I left. Only one boat was on the lake. I killed a mosquito 🦟. Threw out canned, whole kernel corn 🌽 for chum, then caught and released an 8” bluegill with a 1/32 oz twister tail jig on 2 lb test line. On my last cast of the day, I landed a 24” 6.25 lb common carp with corn 🌽 bait after a long battle. I caught 9 carp in the lake in the past month.

Will you donate that Mitchell 300 to the Smithsonian Institute when you are done with it ?

They are still great reels!.. I have a bunch of 300's, a couple 308's, a couple 304 [ think its 304.. The one with the round bottom], and just found a very clean 300 [made in France], at a garage sale for $ 2.. My 12 YO grandson loves it, and wants it as his #1 reel.. Time tested, they served millions of fishermen for a couple generations, and still work great.. I hope that NJ219bands keeps it and uses it for many years to come.... bob

I have a 508 made in France. Unfortunately I don't have the rod to go with it.
My wife to be broke it by very painful accident.

When you could go to Sears for all your fishing and camping needs !
I had a few DAM Quick and I loved them. My oldest reel I can remember owning (along with a few Mitchell 300's) was a Browning Arms spinning reel, I was heartbroken when I fell on it as a kid and snapped the reel seat off !
