This downturn in the number of keepers has nothing to do with the recreational catch. We need to stop the offshore harvest of fluke during their mating period…IMHO.
What do we need to do to stop the insanity ?

I remember when I was knee high to a grasshopper my father would take me on the Piper out of Point Pleasant, amazing the size and amount of fish caught on those trips. One time my father went fishing and when he got home he was very upset. He said he caught a 10 pound fluke and no one on the boat wanted to take his photo because the other guy on the boat caught a 13 pounder. Those days are long long gone unfortunately.

I made many trips on her after a long night of spirits. Those free hotdogs were not my friend. I truely believe it hardened me to seasickness…just the smell…
