Please help me extend a warm NJFishing.com welcome to Captain Adam Nowalsky of Valiant II charters sailing out of Longport NJ serving Atlantic City and Ocean City https://fishvaliant.com/
You might recognize Adam as a former sponsor here on the KarenAnnII as well as his many years of involvement in the NJRFA and serving as a council member at the NJ Marine Fisheries Council as well as the Mid Atlantic States and Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Council.
Needless to say Captain Adam has many years of fishing experience, a wealth of knowledge of our local fisheries as well as serving the NJ recreational fishing community right here in NJ.
The Valiant The Valiant II is a 29' Osmond Beal downeast design. The hull was laid up by H&H Marine of Steuben, ME. Originally built as a coastal Maine cruiser named the "Maine Lady", she was charter fished on Long Island for a number of years before returning to Maine and converted back to a traditional lobster fishing design. Recognizing her for the solid fishing and cruising platform that she was, Capt. Adam put the vessel through an extensive rehab project in downeast Maine bringing her back to the like new condition as she appears today.
This work included a lengthening and enclosing of the wheelhouse, installation of a large helm side sliding door, replacement of steering system, hull refinishing and installation of a combination anchor windlass/hauler system for dual anchoring allowing anchor retrieval speeds of nearly 200' per minute.
The Valiant II is powered by a clean and reliable John Deere diesel engine to provide an easy 14-16 knot cruise speed. Once back in New Jersey, Capt. Adam then completed an electrical rewire and outfitted the Valiant II with modern fishing electronics including -
Furuno NavNet TZTouch3 Multifunction Displays
Furuno 100 Watt Solid-State Doppler Radar
Furuno 3D Multibeam Sonar
Furuno CHIRP Side-Scan
Furuno Autopilot
TZ Professional marine charting and fishing software
To ensure safe travels to and from the fishing grounds and during cruises, the Valiant II is outfitted with the following navigation and safety equipment -
McMURDO SmartFind Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB)
Standard Horizon Marine VHF Transceiver/AIS Receiver
FLIR Thermal Imaging Camera
Globalstar Satellite Phone
Viking Auto-Inflating Liferaft
USCG Type I Life Vests (PFDs)
For your comfort during the trip, the Valiant II features
SiriusXM satellite radio
Cushioned forward bunk
Seating in wheelhouse
Toilet in cabin
Heat during cold weather trips
The current Valiant II is named in part so that the history and memory of the Oyster Creek charter fishing fleet on Great Bay can live on, a tribute to Capt. Kenneth Wilson's Valiant II and the rest of the "blue boats" that sailed from The Creek.
Welcome aboard Captain Adam! We're thrilled to have you here and thanks for all your years of service, advocating for our recreational fishing interests here in NJ and in the regions....
Best of luck fishing this year and I look forward to continue working with you on fisheries management issues!
