Yep....that time of the year. Got an invite from our favorite king crab boat out of the Point this past weekend, or, I should say, the new, red, ride. Took our entire team of family, and near-family members, including our better halves, out to the sea bass grounds in search of......well, sea bass! (Jerry is saving the tile fish, mantis shrimp, and grouper trips for later in the Summer!)
Stellar crew that included THREE generations of the Rubber band Pete family (so damned nice to finally get RB Pete out after too many health issues), and the Martinos and, Fords, not to mention the Kleminator (who caught his personal best sea bass).
Of course, the females of the species put the males to shame, and Im very proud to say that Lynn, my fishing partner for 40 years, put me to freaking shame as she nailed the top three places for pool fish. Special shout out to Tim who basically never had a bait sit on the bottom for more than 2 seconds before he was cranking away.
SOOOOOOOOO Many fish! Soooooo many nice-sized fish in the mix. Im glad the mates were keeping track because on our last stop the whole damned boat was hooked up at the same time and we had to do a HARD STOP to keep our legal limit intact!
The new boat doesnt disappoint, and our fearless leader did his usual incredible job. Cant wait to do the mantis shrimp trip because the last mantis shrimp I ate was on a vacation to Vietnam last year.
Now if only I can get this crew to come along to Phuket next year to do a deep- drop trip for dogtooth tuna my fishing bucket list will be complete!!!!!!
Tight Lines!
