Raritan river: 5/27/25: Air 73* P cloudy to M cloudy, Water 66* @ 522 CFS.
To say better than ideal conditions for late May is an understatement, BUT that doesn't mean you will catch a darn thing ! Hit South Bound Brook with high hopes only to have my hopes and dreams crushed. Moved up river to hit a reliable run near the dam in Duke Island Park only to find one stocked trout, but I did see an Osprey and what looked like a mink on the banks. Moved down river in Duke Island Park to roll 2 and catch one stocked trout. I did see a young man there doing quite well and I directed him downstream a bit to an area that seemed to be holding more fish. Finished up near Raritan Greenway, again rolled a few and caught one stocked trout. With these conditions I was hoping for more but it is what it is, the river can make you or break you, it's that simple.
