Fishing at night for a few reasons. It’s too hot during the day, crabs which are the Tarpons favorite meal are more active at night, fishing is best with a moving tide and the out going starts cranking up just after sunset.
We’ve been live lining Lady Fish and small blue claw crabs and get 3 or 4 bites in as may hours landing 2 out every 3. The ones we miss usually run under the bridge and cut you off on the bridge peers.
Fun stuff and this fishery is usually best a few weeks before and after Memorial Day when the Tarpon migrate north up the gulf coast and stop along the way and feed.
We used to do mostly charters in Boca Grande Pass because it’s a fairly specialized fishery with a steep learning curve but Jake now has things wired and he’s addicted.
