Gambler returned from a decent offshore tilefish trip last night.
We had nice weather and started fishing the deep by 7AM. Slow fishing to start but gradually picked up. We lost our drift at a certain point --it's best if we can get a .5 to 1.0knt drift in order to cover some ground.
Amazing whale show --we saw both fin whales and humpbacks. Lots of undetermined baitfish on top and showing on our finders.
The fishermen with us mostly caught 1 or 2, a few guys landed zero and a couple caught 3 fish. The tiles ranged from 6lbs to 37lbs. A good percent were over 20lbs. John P, from PA was with us. He caught a 29lber and won the pool with a 37lber.
I have added two more tile trips, leaving Tuesdays May 20th and 27th by 11PM --24hrs.
Crew is excited for our first fluke trip of the season, leaving 8AM on Sunday the 11th. Plenty of room on board. Take your mom fishing :D --returning by 2:30PM
