Went fishing 🎣 in muddy, flooded 53 degrees Robert G Martin Lake this evening during a 42 degree nor’easter small craft advisory in the cold 🥶 rain 🌧. Both of my fishing 🎣 spots were still underwater. Didn’t see any fishermen. Few people were out in the rain. The shore was covered with yellow pollen. I didn’t expect to catch anything in the cold water but surprisingly fish 🐠 were jumping. After I threw out corn 🌽 for chum, I got bites on every cast on my worm 🪱 rod and canned whole kernel corn 🌽 rod and didn’t use my third rod because of the constant action. When I landed brown bullheads on both rods simultaneously, I stopped using my worm rod. Caught 4 brown bullheads, 3 bluegills and two common carp to 20”. Both carp hit hard, fought well and actually broke water a few times. Landed 12 carp in the lake this year. If the fish 🐟 continue biting on my corn 🌽 bait, I may stop using worms 🪱 for bait. The resident adult bald eagle 🦅 was in the heron rookery again. My friend Dave P. caught 4 rainbow trout in the canal this year with corn 🌽 bait
