Has anyone used the Jigging World Nexxus rod for blackfish? My rod is rated @ 20-40 lb test. Also what would be a good entry level reel

I run the Jigging World Hybrid 7 foot heavy rod 20-50 lb braid 2-6 oz lure weight.
Rod is phenomenal and takes a beating on the rocks with no issues. I fish predominantly from jetties so sometimes accidents happen with the rod falling or trying to take a big Tog off the hook - it can get dicey but the rod is tough as nails. I have a Daiwa saltist 3000 reel. Love the reel I have 2 of them but I would swap out the handles for a Gomexus power handle - I have actually snapped one of the stock handles bringing in a big tog. Actually a common issue with the reel from what I’ve heard.
The rod has plenty of sensitivity in the tip to see your hits and a ton of backbone. Multiple applications for it also - fluking, sea bass, pumping spoons for bass. Solid overall rod and for the price point can’t beat it.

Do you plan to use the it for fishing with jigs or rigs? Most have a heavier set up for rigs and a lighter set up for jigs. You want the rig rod to be able to handle 10 ounce weights and the jig rod needs to be a lot lighter and sensitive so you can feel a 1/2 ounce jig hit the bottom and the small tick bites. It would also be helpful to know what your budget is...

My budget is $250 for the rod . I have an Avet SXJ I can use

The SXJ will be great for rig fishing but a bit too heavy for finesse jig fishing so I'd assume you want a rod for rig fishing to pair with the SXJ.
Any of the jigging world conventional rods will be fine and you want the M action 7 foot rods. IMO the rods are not as important on the rig fishing side because feel or sensitivity is not as much as a factor as it is on the jigging side. The Nexus @ $149 should be fine.
Here's a post not too long ago with some other opinions https://www.njfishing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122186

So to Gerry’s point - I actually have 2 spools for my saltist 3000 but when I’m fishing from rocks I run the spool with power pro braid 50 on it with a 6-8 foot of 30lb top shot. From there I normally run conventional rigs but I’ve run jigs with that set up also.
Remember - the thinner and lighter braid is to help you with not just feeling the bite but also cutting through 50-100 feet of water in wind and tide movement. You don’t really run into that issue fishing from rocks when you’re only dealing with 10-15 feet of water if that.
I’ve done very well from the rocks fishing my conventional spool set up with jigs.
When I go out on a boat I bring 2 rods - 1 for conventional set up and then my jigging world rod with my spool with 30 lb j braid but I even think that’s over kill I could get away with 10 or 20 for jigging.
Everyone has their own preferences. Gotta find what works for you!
And on a side note -Don’t worry by the time your a couple hundred bucks in the hole in lost rigs , jigs, and top shot you’ll be too hooked to fishing TOG to give a crap.
