On June 1, 2024, Conservation Police Officers Parham and Merritt responded to a complaint of two individuals keeping over the daily limit of trout and using bait in the Trout Conservation Area (TCA) along the Pequest River. CPOs Parham and Merritt arrived and inspected the two individuals and found they were in possession of bait and thirty-five rainbow trout. The rainbow trout were hidden in two locations, the forested area along the Pequest River and inside of each individuals' vehicle engine compartment in bags. All thirty-five rainbow trout were under legal size limit. A total of sixteen summonses were issued for possessing natural bait in a TCA, possessing undersized rainbow trout in a TCA, and possessing rainbow trout over the daily limit in a TCA. From the June 2024 Bureau of Law Enforcement report to the Fish and Game Council.
