Please recommend a ling reel for 150-200 feet of water. Gettin older and harder to retrieve all day. Info appreciated.

Thanks

Whatever brand you go with, I'd check out 2 speed reels, high for smaller fish and checking, rebaiting your rig and if you hook something more sizeable or just feel you need more help on the old muscles, drop it down to low, and go. Speaking form experience, lol.

Great advice right there!

Probably overkill for ling but you might want to check out the avet SX line since they offer 2 speeds like you see here https://www.avetreels.net/reel-series/?cat_slug=sx the 2 speed models takes your line per crank from 21 to 36 inches... I have the MX 2 speed that I use when fishing deep or when trolling when I have tons of line out.. The 2 speed does come in handy to get lines in quicker or if you're on a fish drop it down and you have a lot more cranking power.

Check out the Diawa Saltist 20 or 30 LW. 6:1 ratio.

Good for checking your bait in deep water and enough power for 12 or 16 oz sinkers etc.

30 LB PowerPro with 40 lb top shot.

Power handles on my Penn 3/0 Senator and Jigmaster Jr help a lot. If you have a Penn reel you might want to try it without spending too much.

Purchased a Alijo 400. Reel holds 306 yds. of 40lb braid or 240 yds. of mono. would like to put on backing before braid . Fishing 250 foot depth. Can someone calculate mono backing I need. Would a tackle store know how much the ratio is to fill reel.
Info appreciated.

Put enough mono backer to cover the spool a couple times. Or use a double faced foam type of tape to tie it to. Tie it off to your braid and spool with TENSION. Or just go to a tackle shop and let them spool it up for you.

FYI that reel feels decent with the power handle it has.
