Kicked off the 2024 ice season this past weekend and made the best of it. Started out Saturday up north Jersey at a winter trout stocked lake. Fished the tipups with no flags to be seen. Made a move closer to home to a small kiddie pond. On the way there I stopped home and grabbed my son Finn and had him come out to hang out with the boyz. Kid loved it and do not want to leave. Managed to yank a couple pickerel out.
Monday I decided to take the day after plowing and salting for the town like crazy the past few weeks. Cashed in a day and met up with rob skunk in search of some teeth. Ended up having a good one fought her for awhile to loose her few feet from the hole. The largies were very hungry on this close to full moon. Ended up with a half dozen or so bucketmouths. Ice was 3” when we got there and dwindled down to a measly 2-1/2” by time we were leaving. Hope it’s not the last to come. Hope you guys enjoyed it while we had it.
