Hard to say at this point. Landfall currently for both is projected well south with both forecast to pass NJ well offshore. Barometric pressure will change but at this point NJ isn't scheduled to take a hit. I'm sure we'll feel the impact of offshore swells but have to see if it's enough to start the migration offshore. Remember these fish have to feed big time before starting their journey so time will tell but I'd bet if the path stays as currently projected, it will actually more concentrate the schools and promote a feeding binge until their natural instincts tell them to get out of Dodge and head east.

I’m hoping that with the counter clockwise winds that both or either storm will push some nice water along with the false albacore & bonito that are up off of Montauk and Rhode Island down our way.

Have you seen how far east and south Franklin is project to pass us by?

Idalia is another story as the track is less certain and I don’t like that one….for reasons which could be other than fishing.

Don’t think it’ll matter even if it’s hundreds of miles off. Already at 145mph and building. Swells and currents are gonna affect us.

Normally I would agree but do you realize how far offshore Franklin is passing us by? It’s the other storm I don’t like…

Based on current tracks, don't think either hurricane will have any impact on local inshore fishing. Pelagics maybe based on gulf stream movement, eddies and water temps. Change in pressure will concentrate fluke and put them on the feed anticipating their offshore journey. Next couple of weeks barring another hurricane hitting our area should result in best fishing of the season.

There are some heavy easterly swells shutting down inshore fluke now, but I believe it is because of the supermoon. We'll see in a few days when it eases up what the fluke decided.

Thanks. I'm going Saturday and would like to fish the ocean out of SH. I hope it calms down a bit by then and the fish decided to bite again.
