It's been 25 years since we started this site and it's be one hell of a ride.

It all started from a conversation over a beer at our local Knights of Columbus with Simon Bula who I had just met in 1997. I told him about my idea and he said "I build websites let me know what you want".

Sent him some outlines and off to work he went. I think the first post on the message board was "is anyone here?"

Met a lot of great people here and hope we made a difference for fishermen in NJ and helping some of our sponsors launch their new business and the already established get more business.

Anyhow take a look at this snap shot back in time from 2000 https://web.archive.org/web/20000511235726/http://www.njfishing.com/

Thanks to all who contribute here and our sponsors who supported us.

There’s no doubt without posting here and meeting people I would ever have done trips that I have over the years.

From sunnies and salmon to tuna and swords and everything in between both in multiple states and out of the country!!!

Great group of people always!!

Before following online I loved watching NJ Fishing tv show with Gerry and Tina Cervasio. It was great but we don't hear anything about it anymore. While searching it online I discovered a new NJ based show on Discovery channel. Saltwater Undergrond with Nick Honachefsky. All NJ fishing locations. The post was July 2022 so I don't know if it's still on.

Be nice to see you upgrade to bring the site up to current days .

Way easier to post pictures that you don’t need to click on to see .
And don’t need to use a third party service to post normal size .

IMO you would get a lot more views on posts , and many of us who used to post a lot more to start again .

X2

Would be nice to have a separate forum for member posts and reports IMO. I always read the sponsor reports daily but reg members posts getting drowned out by the party boat reports.

Looking into it and the issue I've run into is the newest version of V Bulletin which gives a better mobile experience and makes pictures easier, won't allow me to migrate the content of this board over to it and most importantly, the user base.

What portion of the user base are people that never made a post. They just registered a name and never contributed.

Maybe time to cut bait. But are site member numbers more important than actual contributors to the site?

Yeah Thanks Gerry! I've met alot of great fisherman here. I can't believe it's been that long. This site has definitely brought together alot of people in the fishing community. I grew up in PP and something that always struck me the most, is how far people travel to get out on the ocean. I'm not sure if it is a love or a sickness. Thanks again! 👍🏻 FH
