View Full Version : casting rod
Hi There. Just lost my favorite Cape Fear\Lexa combo and need something to replace it. Preferably casting rod for blackfish/seabass/fluke type of fishing, also offshore seabass. Planning to use Lexa300, need advice about rod. Every opinion counts and appreciated.

On the higher end I would suggest the Black Hole 701L or 731M if your prefer something that handles more weight for heavier sinker fishing. The L will provide more sport but not more than 3 or 4 ounces. Don’t be afraid to go with the M, although it can handle more weight, it’s still sensitive enough to use with light jigs for Blackfish. If were to only buy one rod to cover all the bases it would be the M.
The mid tier would be Jigging World Nexus 701C MH - Here again the MH is on the light side and will handle 4 ounces if you want something that can handle more get the H.
Lower tier but still good quality would be Star Stellar Lite

Penn battalion 1220c70
One of the Best all around inshore rod there is for anything up to 6 oz
Above 6 0z penn battalion 1530c70
Or black hole 731M
Thank you for advice gentlemen
I have rod for light jigging, looking for something heavier, which could manage up to 10-12 oz of weight. At the same time would like rod to be lightweight and still sensitive.
Thanks again

Black Hole 731M can handle 10 - 12 no problem and it's still very light and sensitive.
Thank you Gerry
Where would you suggest me to buy it? On the Web it goes around $450.
Tnx

Everyone including the online guys don’t normally discount them so the choice is yours. Not sure what brick and mortar shops stock them so if you want to get one in your hands before you pull the trigger I have the 731 Spiral you could check out. I’m in Edison but travel down the the Atlantic Highlands area too. Just shoot me PM.
Thank you very much
Will do

Try heading up to TackleWorld in Rochelle Park. They used to be Jigging World. They should have the rods you are looking for.

Check out the new Fenwick Elite inshore in 15-40 heavy .
It has a very similar feel to the black hole 731 and it’s about half the price. .
