the fish are all over the lake davis cove, sharps,barns ridge,pick a spot herring, trolling stickbaits, messy chicken livers all are working now. hope to see you out there.

Hey Guys,

I have been reading & reading all about these for the last like 7 years and I think it’s time I pull the trigger…..

I’d like to participate in this and meet all you famous fishermen ( Al Lindner who ? ) who I’ve been reading about & seeing all your great catches through out the years.

Have a 16’ Misty Harbor fishing boat which can fit 2 big guys easily, 3 would be tight but doable.

Ok, so Lake Hopatcong state park boat launch right ? Went there this summer on the lake with no luck, water was puke green and saw no fish.

Have caught a few hybrid stripers in the past years ago on Spruce Run and at Cozy Lake in Jefferson, all on lures ( spinner & a Rattle Trap ) - never on bait.

Have the tackle, just never went specifically for them with bait.

By the way, I’m kind of between jobs and have plenty of time to fish - ie looking for some fishing partners - I think I’m on the right site !

Ok, so I’m kind of a tech Luddite and I know “PM” means personal message but I for real don’t know how to do it - can tie one hell of a steelhead float rig though, down to the gram !

So I’m replying on here, hopefully Fast Eddie & Mikey Topaz can get me there and we’ll all get out fishing - the greatest & best sport ever…..

2 questions:

1. What is the rig used - like for lakers or tuna, 1/4 oz egg sinker on main line to a swivel, 20/ 30 lb fluorocarbon leader ( a foot or two ) to the hook…..

2. Bait - I hear you get them on chicken livers, herring or whatever….

I can pick up whatever from the food store and if you guys get herring I’ll happily reimburse you for whatever the cost for a few…..

Most of us will be soaking livers and fishing in a orgy. Get yourself at least 2 tubs per person. I use inline circle hooks 2/0 on an 10-14# 18-24" leader with a split shot or 2. Some fish them without weights. Not sure if Dows is still selling herring. Give em a call you can pick up bait from the water.

I did some scouting on Sunday and had a super slow pick of fish. Total of 6 in the boat biggest was 23". Likely be out again this weekend.

Save yourself a few buck and get your Lee's pass online ahead of time.

I got the messy chicken livers and some jiggin raps will try the ridge in the am, do not know how deep the bridys are will have the vexilar to help find them.. perhaps the waldos are in the mood to play, with the moon out it might be hard to get them to play nice. hope to see some of you out there:cool:

Fishing was on the slow side. We had a flurry in the AM and Mikey put us on 4 before they shut off.

Sorry for the late report fellas, always a good time when the crew gets together. Definitely not one of our best get together but still fish were caught by most from what I seen. Always great seeing the njfboyz! With fishing so good last weekend and we left em biting I had really high hopes and good vibes. Me and capt Gerry gave it hell ran a few spots had em going for a few mins marks were getting better then they disappeared. We picked 4 real quick two ok ones two on the smaller side. Thank you for the guys that showed up to support and fished see ya guys out there soon!

It was awesome to see everyone out there giving it hell during a tough bite. Gerry got his first Hybrids. My guest Walter reeled in his first. Mission accomplished! The guys that hung in there got some beauties at the whistle from what I hear and the pics I’ve seen. Great job guys! We’ll do it again next year for sure. TIGHT LINEZ!!! :D

Met the crew at 0700 hours at the ramp and was greeted by a grumpy a$$ county employee yelling at everyone and demanding to know who was in charge of the unauthorized tournament. :p

Got the boat situated and we pulled out on the spot and immediately had marks under the boat. Unfortunately they were the wrong kind. :mad:

Saw Eddie and Mikey pull up a fish or two and held out hope. After being harassed for an hour or so by white perch. We made a move where I caught a plus sized hybrid on a swimbait.

At this point we went into jigging mode and bounced around the lake with only a micro crappie to show for it. Checked in with the gang and most had left or weren't catching anything. We decided to motor back to the first area and found 2 boats still at it. No one was doing much so we moved around until we saw some decent marks. Setup the slick and Luke got hit by an average sized fish.

Of course we were immediately mugged by Scotty and Joe. Things went dead and Scotty went back to playing with the perch. Chrisper was on Joe's boat and all we could hear was his constant complaining that Joe bought rotten bait. Joe couldn't handle the complaining anymore as it had been going on non-stop all day and packed it in. We grabbed their rotten bait as they left as we were running out.

About 20 minutes after they left Luke gets hammered by a plus sized fish that has him dancing around gunwale of of the boat.

Brent had to be somewhere by 5pm. As he was reeling up he gets thumbed. A literal buzzer beater with the biggest fish of the day!

Scotty and Fonzi had come into mugging position but were out of bait. We gave them a tub of the rotten stuff while I dropped of Brent. Come back to the spot and they had a double header on that got them tangled in every line in the boat.

Luke and I stuck it out and he caught 2 more nice ones and got the picture of the year!

A long day but definitely worth it with 3 skillful angler hybrids to the net.

So glad that Chrisper's bait was rotten and didn't work.

I got no shirts, no hybrids, two tubs of rotten liver, stinky fingers.... what a gyp! Thank god i was surrounded by a bunch of fishing psychopaths at least. trying to keep my lines out of fast eddie's motor and throwing white perch at people kept me entertained
