Who can guess what time I caught this fish? The Chinese takeout lady didn’t know. Lol 😂. Caught an 8.5 lb common carp with ShopRite canned whole kernel corn on a #4 long shank gold hook and 12 lb test line in 64 degree Colonial Lake this evening. Gave it to Rana and his brother from Pakistan for halal dinner tonight. Landed 59 carp this year. Also caught and released 9 bluegills and 7 golden shiners a day before Hurricane Ian.

I tried to eat one from a cold, clear, weedless lake . November, many years ago. It was [cayuga lake ].. Horrifying taste, like bloody old beef liver and over ripe False Albacore mixed..and that fish was flopping fresh from the water too.. I recall I tried to give it to my 2 dogs, and they both smelled it, looked at me ,and ran away.. true story... Maybe there are secrets to cooking them I am unaware of......bob

There isn't. And if u eat them in NJ consistently, you're likely to get cancer or some other horrifying disease due to the amount of hard-core, harmful toxins in them.

No, but I ate one many years ago. It was okay but had too many small bones.

Yes, there is a NJ Statewide consumption advisory for carp:

General Population - 1 meal per month;

High Risk Population (Children, Pregnant Women / Women of childbearing age): DO NOT EAT.

The above from: NJDEP Fish Consumption Advisories which also has specific waterbody advisories.

NJ219bands, do you inform the people to whom you give the fish, of the above NJ fish consumption advisories due to toxics in the fish flesh?
