9/10/2022 - another successful Central Jersey Stream Team cleanup on the South Branch of the Raritan in Somerset County from Clawson Avenue to Studdiford Drive (a bit over 2 miles). The weather was great and the water was crystal clear. Even though we’ve done this stretch multiple times, we still keep finding more.
With 9 (and a half) volunteers we managed to pull out 29 tires (2 were large tractor tires), an office chair, a fancy bar stool, two large pool floats, a grill, a long PVC pipe, parts of a small vehicle, random bits of metal and plastic, some Ganesh, and about 15 bags of smaller trash. Thank you to the Somerset County Park Commission Park Rangers for trash disposal.

Nice Job Andy! The garbage and litter everywhere is disheartening. No respect for mother earth! I don't have all the answers but change is needed...

This carry in carry out garbage business doesn't work. The litter in the woods and along side the roads is unbelievable. Where the heck is Clean Communities NJ? Bring back garbage disposal at all these designated locations. Second, its getting harder and harder to dispose of garbage curbside today. Part of the problem is with these new automated garbage trucks, if your garbage doesn't fit in the can, they wont take it. Most garbage haulers no longer handle construction debris or large household items. Homeowners are left to handle it themselves which leaves to illegal dumping. All to save money and spend elsewhere...
