We had quite a few MAHI and a SWORDFISH on the last Exotics trip. There were plenty of TUNA breaking on top but they didn't want to eat.

The 18-20 Hour Canyon Mahi Trip departs Monday night, Sept. 12th at 11PM and we have some spots open. There are lots of fish out there so make your reservations and come on down.

Pictures are from yesterday's Exotics Trip.

The GOLDEN EAGLE sails every day for STRIPERS & BLUES at 7:30 am from Belmar Marina in Belmar, NJ.

Since I was on this trip I will elaborate. We booked a trip that was supposed to be a 40-60 mile trip but we ended up in the Hudson going close to 100 miles out bc that’s where they felt like they needed to go to get the tuna. 4 mates on board were all great and very attentive to anything you needed. Great boat and crew that went way farther than planned to try to get it done. The swordfish was caught by the fisherman next to me and came to the surface in the lights and was swimming through the lines and got snagged. We thought it was a tangled line at first. 🤣 It didn’t bite in my opinion, others may say otherwise but I saw the whole thing right in front of me. Also the mate took the rod shortly after it was hooked and actually got the job done. Good thing he did bc otherwise it probably would have been under the boat and broke off. Also there were no TUNA surfacing at all and not even a mention on the boat of a tuna seen. There was life surfacing and we went to check it out and it was a few whales and tons and tons of dolphin. We did see a marlin in the lights at the surface on the port side and the sword on the starboard. There were mahi on several pots we stopped on. That’s the real post people. The golden eagle is a great boat that fishes for everything it can. Tuna fishing isn’t what it was in the 70,80or 90’s. If we could stop all recreational and commercial tuna fishing for several years we could all go out and catch 500#ers easy instead of catching 2 year old young 70# school tuna. It is what it is , no sense in embellishing it. Great boat, great crew. Call it as it is.
